Systematic Safety Approach 

Dear Safety Heads - Look Around your Work Place.

Are there area where direct conflict between people and vehicles prevails?

Are there blind spots, dark areas, dim light areas, or other areas of poor visibility and tight corners, restricting the manoeuvrability of vehicles?
 

Are there steep slopes or uneven terrain at driving surfaces and any gaps in clear visibility of road marking and signage?
 

Are there potential driver distractions such as mobile phone, influence of alcohol, drugs and fatigue and low information and knowledge of rules and regulations of roads?
 

Are there risks and hazards in the routes of employee transportation and some incidents or a near miss?

The above points are just some suggestions of what to consider or look out for. Looking around your work site and thinking ‘what could go wrong’ may assist you to identify more potential risks and hazards. Potential Risks and hazards include those that can cause acute injuries and those that can harm employee’s long-term health.
